The 30-year-old country singer-songwriter, Maggie Rose is known for hit songs such as ''I Ain't Your Mamma,'' ''Better,'' and ''Looking Back Now.".
Maggie developed a passion for singing at an early age and was a member of her church and school choirs. She shied away from performing secular music until she was 15, when a family friend encouraged her to join a Bruce Springsteen cover band. In 2007, music mogul Tommy Mottola, who was passed along an album of her original songs, contacted her and advised her to move to Music City.
At 19, she dropped out of college and relocated to Nashville to become a full-time country singer.
Maggie Rose has since been a quiet force in the country world for several years now, first getting mainstream attention with the clever “Girl in a Truck Song” in 2014 and since earning critical praise for her most recent EP Dreams > Dollars, which was released earlier in 2017. The Nashville-based artist recently spent some time in the studio working on new songs, two of which you can hear below.
Rose and her 11-piece band recorded the tracks in Nashville, capturing each in just one take. Band members included players from the Morrison Brothers Band and Them Vibes, as well as some of Rose’s own musician pals, who have played with folks like Kelly Clarkson and Steven Tyler.
First cut “Just Getting By” is a laid back love song about the authentic real-life relationships. Rose wrote that tune, which has the kind of infectious melody that can bridge the gap between pop country and R&B, with producer and songwriter Chad Carlson. “Pull You Through,” co-written with Larry Florman and Alex Haddad, is a soulful showstopper, with a slow-burning arrangement that allows plenty of room for Rose to show off her powerhouse vocals.
Both new songs are now available as a digital 45. Listen to “Just Getting By” and “Pull You Through” (and read a little background info on each from Rose) below.
“Just Getting By”
“We have these expectations of ourselves and compare our progress to others’ and when things don’t go as planned, we have an opportunity to show ourselves,” Rose says. “As newlyweds who are in business together, my husband and I have made a lot of sacrifices for my music and it has brought us so much joy, but it has also put pressure on us and our relationship at times. We recognize the beauty in the struggle, but sometimes you just have to tell each other that the struggle won’t always be there, even if you can’t be sure.”
"Pull You Through"
“I wrote this with two of my closest friends, which really helped me tap into the intimacy of this song about unconditional love,” Rose says. “In order to give it the timeless feel we wanted it to have, we gave the song a throwback arrangement and production. The 6/8 feel, the background vocals and the lyrics are intended to conjure almost a spiritual feeling surrounding the love we’re writing about. My grandparents passed away seven weeks apart shortly after we wrote this song and I think of them and their love every time I sing the last verse.”
In Spring of 2018, Maggie released "It's You" and "Smooth." Rolling Stone once again praised Maggie Rose with "It's You" as “a giant, throwback Soul ballad that shows off her dynamic vocals [containing] shades of Aretha Franklin,” and also praised "Smooth" as "a supremely funky rocker with hints of Grace Potter [and] Janis Joplin".

The enthusiasm surrounding each Digital 45 release has continually increased the appetite of her fans while relentlessly expanding her following via radio, streaming platforms and through her captivating live performances. The full-length album will feature 12 songs, 12 live in-studio videos, with a full-access behind-the-scenes one-hour musical documentary which peels back the layers and allows the viewer an intimate look into the making of the album.
Rose has been named to YouTube’s Emerging Artist and Artist in Residence 2018 programs, and Pandora named her an Artist to Watch 2018. In June, Maggie’s creative breadth and versatility sparked the first-ever partnership between Prescription Songs and Sea Gayle Music, with the two companies signing a joint-venture publishing agreement with Rose. In July, she was tapped by Land O’Lakes for a synchronization deal that lends her voice to a national ad campaign focusing on Women’s Empowerment.
In 2018, Maggie Rose has played over 150 dates across the world including
Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival and The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, while sharing the stage with artists such as Kelly Clarkson, Julia Michaels, Brandy Clark, and Bob Weir of Grateful Dead.
