Mary Anne Message is a Canadian Army Brat born in Germany. She lived between Southern Ontario & BC, then settled between South Langley, Aldergrove & Abbotsford BC before moving to Central Alberta in 2012 (Red Deer Area)
As a child, Mary Anne played the Clarinet in Concert Band and sang in Jazz choir. She used to sing to her stuffed toys while standing on the fireplace hearth as a kid. She wrote silly songs and revamped the Alphabet song as a child. her sisters can vouch for that. In later years while in Aldergrove & Abbotsford BC, Mary Anne started entering vocal competitions, qualifying, and being in the top 5 in most of her competitions.
Mary Anne's first experience in a band was in a group named Young At Heart that played the Golden Oldies to the elderly in Old Folks Homes. She was the lead vocalist and was the youngest of the group the rest of the band could fit right in where they played. Her 2nd band was a group named Glory Daze. It was a Duo group with Cory Risling on guitar and Mary Anne on bass. The two named the band Glory Daze because they found out that they both owned the same horse named Glory.
Mary Anne formed another country band named Deputized where she played the bass and sang lead and background vocals. It was here that her and Kane Follis started writing songs together.
Mary Anne became a member of the BCCMA where there was an opportunity to enter her co-write" Kiss Me In the Rain" in a Province Wide Song Writing Contest in British Columbia.
Kiss Me In The Rain landed Mary Anne a spot of the 20 chosen winners to attend a weekend workshop with Ron & Sue Irving.
Mary Anne moved to Alberta in 2012 where she started networking with Vocalists and Musicians. Mary Anne won the Ivan Daines Friends and Hero's Vocal Competition in 2016 and Competed in the Annual Olds Idol landing here 3rd Place in 2018. She then became a member of the ACMA.
Mary Anne met Mark Troyer, a Producer, at the Country Star Search in Olds. She then hired members of Brett Kissel's band to record her Debut Album "Bucket List" at Evergreen Studios.
The musicians are Matty McKay on Guitar, Justin Kudding on Bass and Spencer Cheyne on Drums as well as Bart McKay on the Organ & Mitch Jay on Banjo as well as Mike Stevens on Harmonica.
Before releasing the single "Kiss Me In The Rain" from the Album "Bucket List" Mary Anne became a member of the CCMA. Mary Anne's song Reel You In is a hopeful fun song about finding love. Every Country Artist seems to have a fishing song and this is Mary Anne’s version of a Fishing song.
Reel You In was digitally released Dec 2015 and has been #1 on the numberonemusic.com's Country Pop Charts for more than 30 weeks.
The Bucket List Album was release June 2018 and Sweet Noise is #1 on the Alternative Country Charts on the numberonemusic.com and her Tall, Dark & Chevy is currently sitting at #6 on the same charts.
Mary Anne released Kiss Me In The Rain, a co-write with Kane Follis and Victor Teixeira, to Radio in June 2018 and can be heard at Canadian Beats, CBC Country / Sirius XM CH 171, CIFA, Country Barnyard, CHPN, CKVE, CKWT, CHGL. CJVR will be aired a radio interview and playing the song Kiss Me In The Rain on July 25th 2019th in both Melfort and Whitecourt. Mary Anne has very unique timber and has been dubbed Shania Twain meets Pat Benatar. She has some kick up your heals tunes as well as touch your heart songs. Mary Anne has been a featured Artist at the Ivan Daines 42nd 43rd Annual Country Music Picnic and received an Honourary Award for Alberta Woman of Country Music in 2019.
